For Sherlocked’s new flagship escape experience in Amsterdam’s Beurs van Berlage, I created a projection-mapped hallucination effect triggered when players drink a fictional “alchemical potion.” To achieve a realistic illusion of shifting reality, I 3D-scanned parts of the room and recreated the architecture in Blender. I then animated the bricks to move and distort, projecting the visuals back onto the real walls using 3D video mapping. This technique convincingly bends the physical space, giving players the impression that the environment is alive and moving. The result enhances immersion at a key moment in the experience, contributing to storytelling and emotional impact. Though difficult to fully capture on video, the installation is visually striking and highly effective in person.
SHERLOCKED
For Sherlocked’s new flagship escape experience, I created a 3D video mapping sequence that simulates a hallucinatory state triggered by an ‘alchemical potion’. Using 3D scans of the space and animated brick structures in Blender, the projection bends the players’ perception—making the walls appear to move and shift, enhancing immersion through a striking, reality-warping visual effect.
